notice your negative self talk WORKSHOP

We all have an inner critic. Most of us have an inner champion too. The problem is that for many of us, the inner critic, with it’s negative self talk is more chatty that the champion. It isn’t louder, that is not the issue. The negative self talk is like someone constantly whispering in your ear all the things your subconscious thinks is wrong with you. It tells you that you look old, or fat, or ugly. (You are none of those things). It can remind you how stupid you are. (You aren’t stupid). It will berate you for wearing the wrong clothes, not leaving enough time, for saying the wrong thing, having bad hair. It can tell you that you don’t deserve any of the things you want. That you are useless, worthless and not good enough. (You are none of those thing either). Imagine this is on a constant loop in your head. Well, for many people that is what it is. The thing is that we are sop accustomed to it being there that we don’t even notice any more and the messages get more and more reinforced making it harder and harder to get where we want to be in life, to feel good about ourselves, and it becomes a spiral of negativity.

Due to a lifetime of extremely negative conditioning, my own inner critic has a lot to say, and I am forever telling it to be quiet. The trick to shutting it up I have found is to listen to what it is telling me and then allow those thoughts to disappear into the air as I no longer wish for them to remain in my head.
