ART FOR SELF DISCOVERY

Art for Self Discovery is a five week course which leads you into an improved relationship with yourself and your life. The course consists of five creative activities, each with a meditation element, which are designed to generate the state of ‘flow’ which is where you become totally absorbed in what you are doing and this is what top psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi calls the secret to happiness.

You will be guided to look at your beautiful creations and decode them to find out what your subconscious wants you to know.

It is a lovely, enlightening process. There is no pressure, you can’t do it wrong. Here, there is only right, and that is what is right for you.

YOU CAN LOVE THE LIFE YOU LIVE MORE

Week one

Here you will tune in to how you really feel about yourself compared with how you want to feel. You'll create a vision of the feelings you want to feel - your most awesome! and keep it to remind your subconscious to feel it too. Over time this then becomes your default state.

Week two

What you are really thinking about when distracted, what are the thoughts lurking below the surface and what can you learn from them? Therefore what can you learn about yourself from the simple act of doodling? When you doodle from a place of distraction, some fascinating insights can come about from what comes out of your mind when you aren’t paying attention to it.

Week three

We all have areas of our lives where we might like to have something more, or something different, yet we get so caught up in the day to day that we aren’t even aware of these gaps and we fill them with other, often less fulfilling things. What is missing in your life? Through mindful collage of what sparks your interest, you will find out where you can be adding to and enhancing your life experience.

Week four

Now you have found out where the gaps are, it is time to discover what your true desires or feelings are. Find out what you're looking for (if anything - you could be more content than you realise) with a simple line and some paint. Take the line for a walk and see where it takes you and what secrets it wants you to know…

Week five

A fact about life is that it is always challenging us, we always want more and we always want to change things. Now you have learned what it is you want to change, it is easy to become dissatisfied with your present reality. One of life’s ironies is that in order to bring about the changes you want, it is important to be content with what you already have. So, starting with your immediate area, get your photographer's eye in and your camera (or smartphone) out to discover your true perception of beauty in your everyday environment.

“The benefits have been awesome - it has helped to spark my creativity again and is a beautiful form of mindfulness that allows me to enter a state of flow and express my feelings in a way words don ‘t allow for.”

 FAQs:

HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE TAKE?

When you buy the course you will receive an email every week for five weeks plus a pre course introduction and some bonuses at the end. Each email contains the link and password to the module on the website. If you save or tag the emails or keep them in a folder then you can take five weeks, or five months or as long as you like. When you have finished you can return to the course as many times as you wish.

WHAT MATERIALS DO I NEED?

It is helpful if you have access to a printer as one exercise requires you to download and print a simple worksheet for which you’ll need two copies. Some old magazines will be useful but not essential, basic pens, pencils, paints and some paper. Plus a journal or notebook to record your results and findings.

DO I NEED TO BE A CREATIVE PERSON TO TAKE PART?

Absolutely not! This course is designed to spark your creativity whether you are an artist or have never picked up a brush. If you are someone who is always making things or if at some point in your life you have taken the idea that ‘I’m not good at art’ then this is for you. In my opinion everybody is an artist and we need to nurture that within ourselves. A very important aspect of this course and my whole philosophy is that it is not about the end result but about the process. This is more to do with how the exercises make you feel than what is on the page.

IS THERE ANY SUPPORT PROVIDED?

This is a self study course. However you will be invited to join the facebook group where you will be able to ask advice, show your work (only if you want to) and provide and receive support form the other members in the group and myself.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The cost of the course is £197.00
